Reaper of The Drifting Moon Chapter 258
Reaper of The Drifting Moon Chapter 258

Pyo-Wol threw the ice spear into a Secluded area. Despite being transparent, the shape of the spear could not be completely hidden. Moreover, it was too long to carry around comfortably.

Using it a couple of times could be useful, but carrying it around would only draw people's attention.

The reason why assassins preferred short swords was also to avoid others' attention. In that sense, the ice spear was the worst weapon.

By now, the residents of Snow Sword Manor may have realized that Pyo-Wol had used the identity of the ice slayer to carry out the assassination.

Using the same identity twice was foolish.

Pyo-Wol immediately changed to another face.

It was his most preferred ordinary face, one that he had seen somewhere on the streets before. After changing into that face, Pyo-Wol walked away.

He stayed in Snow Sword Manor for a few days and completely familiarized himself with the internal structure. He probably knew the layout of Snow Sword Manor better than Seol Kang-yeon, the lord of Snow Sword Manor.

The servants and workers were busy moving around.

It had been only one day since Geum Suryeon was killed in Snow Sword Manor. However, the effect was immediate.

Geum Shin-Chung ordered a severance of all ties with Snow Sword Manor.

Snow Sword Manor could no longer enjoy the luxury it had been used to until now.

The servants originally from Snow Sword Manor were less shaken, but those hired from the outside were noticeably uneasy.

As a result, the atmosphere in Snow Sword Manor was very uneasy.

"Being attacked by an assassin in Snow Sword Manor? Isn't that assassin still in Snow Sword Manor?"

"I joined Snow Sword Manor because it was advantageous, but it wasn't the only advantage."

"What about Geum Shin-chung? Geum Suryeon died in Snow Sword Manor, but it doesn't seem like they'll just sever ties like that."

Pyo-Wol listened carefully to their conversation.

He knew that important information could come out of such small talks.

Even though Pyo-Wol was nearby, no one suspected him.

Pyo-Wol blended into the surrounding scenery naturally.

Then, suddenly, a loud voice was heard, "Hey, you, and you, and you... come here!"

Pyo-Wol looked to where the voice was coming from and saw a young man pointing to some laborers and calling them.

The young man's name was
Ji Gang-pyo .

Among the laborers, pointed out was Pyo-Wol, who was mistaken for a laborer.

Pyo-Wol calmly approached .

As the laborers gathered, said, "Follow me, everyone."

"Yes!" The laborers replied without understanding anything.

Pyo-Wol also responded appropriately and followed .

He would only raise suspicion if he fell behind or refused to obey orders here. It was still possible to make a decision after following along.

Ji Gang-pyo led the laborers to a place called Bi Ji, deep in the Snow Sword Manor.

It was so secretive that most workers in Snow Sword Manor did not even know of its existence.

There was a small mansion in Bi Ji, and a strange odor was emanating from there. The scent was not just a simple stimulation of the sense of smell. It was also making their heads ache.

The workers looked bewildered.

They couldn't understand why Ji Gang-pyo brought them here.

On one side of Bi Ji, Baek Do-gyeong was standing.

Ji Gang-pyo brought the workers to Baek Do-gyeong.

"I've brought them."

"Good job."

Baek Do-gyeong looked at the workers with cold eyes.

"Your job is very simple. You just need to move the things inside."

Baek Do-gyeong's gaze at the workers was merciless. Just receiving his gaze was enough to make them tremble with fear.

Pyo-Wol looked closely at Baek Do-gyeong with his head down.

Baek Do-gyeong didn't pay attention to Pyo-Wol, but Pyo-Wol immediately noticed something about him, that he was a member of a secret and dangerous group.

It was the unique moist smell of those who lived in the under world.

He didn't fit in with Snow Sword Manor.

Pyo-Wol clearly remembered Baek Do-gyeong's face, gaze, and smell.

Without knowing that fact, Baek Do-gyeong made a gesture to Ji Gang-pyo. Then took the workers and went into the mansion.

The inside of the mansion was dark, and the smell was strong.

"Cough! Cough!"

"What's that smell...?"

As soon as the workers entered the mansion, they coughed.

Pyo-Wol also pretended to cough and looked around the inside of the mansion.

All the windows of the mansion had wooden shutters attached and nailed, making it almost impossible for light to come in from the outside.

The source of the foul smell was a large pot in the middle of the mansion.

It was filled with a thick liquid that emitted a putrid stench. Next to the pot were wooden boxes tightly sealed.

Ji Gang-pyo instructed the workers, "Move these boxes outside."

"Yes, sir!" the workers replied, rushing towards the wooden boxes.

They wanted to leave this place as soon as possible because of the terrible stench.

The boxes were extremely heavy, although they didn't know what was inside.

Each worker picked up one box and carried it outside.

In large estates, there were usually small gates or secret doors that ordinary people could use to come and go. The Snow Sword Manor was no exception.

There was a small secret door that led directly outside. guided the workers there.

A large wagon with horses was waiting outside.

"Load them up here," Ji Gang-pyo ordered as the workers struggled to carry the wooden boxes.

"The laborers followed Ji Gang-pyo without any suspicion.

They were all people who had recently started working at Snow Sword Manor . They simply worked for money and knew nothing about the internal affairs of Snow Sword Manor.

They just wanted to finish this job quickly and return to Snow Sword Manor.

Pyo-Wol watched the back of Ji Gang-pyo, who was walking ahead of him while hiding his expression thoroughly.

It was clearly not a job done under the official chain of command.

This type of work often required secrecy. And there was only one surefire way to keep a secret.

Pyo-Wol knew that fact better than anyone else.

Then, one of the laborers approached him and spoke.

"Where do you work? I've never seen you before."

"Ah! I work at the Guest-Office."(“아! 빈객청에서 일합니다.”)

"Is that so? How's working there? The place where I work is full of shady characters."

"It's the same there. If anything, it's even worse."

"Damn it! There's no comfortable place anywhere."

The laborer didn't even suspect Pyo-Wol's casual response.

Ji Gang-pyo led the laborers to a river far away from Yeonnam(여남에서 한참 떨어진 강이었다). A small boat was waiting for them on the riverbank.

The boat was manned by several unknown people.

The demeanor of the warriors, all dressed in black robes, was suspicious at first glance.

"Wait here."

Ji Gang-pyo made the workers stop and approached the boat alone.

Then, the person who appeared to be the leader came down from the boat and talked with
Ji Gang-pyo for a while.

Ji Gang-pyo returned to the workers with a smiling face, indicating that the conversation went well.

"Load all the baggage on the cart into the boat."

"Yes!"

The workers replied and transferred the wooden boxes on the cart to the boat, struggling to maintain their balance on the muddy riverbank.

Pyo-Wol also struggled to move the luggage.

As they approached the boat, they overheard the warriors talking.

"He's amazing too. Making mahwadan (magic pills) inside the Snow Sword Manor."

"Isn't he someone who can use anything available?"

"Well, that's why he reached that position at that age."

They didn't imagine that Pyo-Wol was listening to their conversation, as they spoke quietly and were far from the workers.

Then the leader of the warriors shouted.

"Don't talk nonsense. Prepare to leave as soon as the baggage is loaded."

"Yes, sir!"

The leader of the warriors was in his mid-fifties, with a goatee and an ominous look in his eyes that made one shudder just by looking at him.

The workers grunted as they moved back and forth between the boat and the cart.

Thud!

Finally, the last box was loaded onto the boat.

"Whew!"

"I'm exhausted."

The workers wiped the sweat from their foreheads and patted their waists. It was much harder work than simply moving luggage on flat ground.

They hadn't noticed that
Ji Gang-pyo and the leader of the black-clad men exchanging glances.

"You all did a great job."

Ji Gang-pyo approached the workers with a smile.

"No, it's our duty."

The eldest worker bowed his head with a humble expression.

"That's right! If you work hard, you should receive a reward."

Swish!

Ji Gang-pyo Suddenly, swung his sword and swiftly killed the elderly worker with one blow.

"Why? Why?" The worker, with a cut-throat, looked at in disbelief.

Ji Gang-pyo laughed with a sword on his shoulder.

"Why do you ask? It's just the way things are with this kind of work. We don't leave any witnesses."

"Ah!"

"Run away!"

The workers who witnessed the scene fled in all directions. Pyo Wol also ran to the riverbank.

Ji Gang-pyo pursued the workers with lightning-fast movements, taking advantage of his expert martial arts skills in the pouring rain.

While the workers struggled to move through the mud, Ji Gang-pyo moved as quickly as the wind, killing all the workers as he moved east and west.

"Crack!"

"Swish!"

The workers' screams echoed across the river.

His final target was Pyo Wol.

Unlike the other workers, Pyo Wol fled to the riverbank.

"Fool! Do you think you can escape by running away like that?"

Ji Gang-pyo quickly caught up with Pyo Wol.

Pyo Wol turned around at the sensation of someone behind him. His terrified expression was vividly visible to Ji Gang-pyo, and it was not a lie.

Ji Gang-pyo swung his sword like lightning towards Pyo Wol's ches.

Crash!

Pyo-Wol felt the sensation of the sword slicing through his chest.

Splat!

Pyo Wol fell into the river without even being able to scream.

Ji Gang-pyo stood by the riverbank, waiting for the body of Pyo-Wol to surface. However, no matter how long he waited, Pyo-Wol's body did not appear.

Ji Gang-pyo looked at the sword in his hand.

"It felt a little shallow... but it doesn't matter."

The sensation he felt from the sword was different from usual. Normally, there would be some resistance when the blade penetrated deeply, but there was almost none this time.

However, Ji Gang-pyo didn't think much of it.

He didn't even imagine a mere worker could survive a wound from his sword.

It was an insult to his sword.

He looked at the crew on the boat and said, "Now that the massacre is complete, you can leave with peace of mind."

"Hmm! I hope you serve the
investigation1well. You're someone we pay special attention to, even in the underworld."

"Don't worry”.

"Well then, see you next time. You'll probably see us somewhere else."

Ji Gang-pyo turned to the leader of the crew(지강표가 우두머리 무인에게 포권을 취했다.)

The leader nodded and ordered his subordinates to depart. The boat glided through the water and disappeared.

Only after confirming that the boat was completely gone did Ji Gang-pyo look around.

The corpses of the workers he had killed were scattered around the riverbank.

He threw all the bodies into the river.

The river flowed calmly as if nothing had happened, swallowing the bodies.

"Come to think of it, the last guy helped me finish my work. He chose the riverbank for himself."

Ji Gang-pyo chuckled.

***

Heuk-Ho picked up a transparent spear.

It was made of ice crystal.

There was only one person in the world who used such a weapon.

"Ice Slayer!"

And Ice Spear was found dead in his dwelling.

With tiny holes in his forehead, heart, and both hands, especially those piercing his forehead and heart, were fatal wounds.

The holes were so tiny that only a silk thread(명주실) could pass through them.

Heuk-Ho had killed numerous people and seen just as many corpses.

However, no wounds he had ever seen were similar to Ice Spear's.

"Did he use a silver thread?" (은사)

The only weapon he could imagine with his imagination was a silver thread.

However, a silver thread was too thin to be used as a weapon.

"He was more frightening than I thought."

Heuk-Ho's eyes sank deep.

He was hiding much larger and more terrifying claws than he had thought.

After the Ice Slayer's spear, there was no trace of Pyo-Wol anywhere.

He was clearly perfectly concealing his identity and hiding or fled the manor.

"Damn!"

Heuk-Ho's gaze scanned the inside of the castle.
